TAIKO CENTER OF THE PACIFIC 2007-08 FELLOWSHIP APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED TO MAY 2, 2007
The Taiko Center of the Pacific (TCP) in Honolulu, Hawaii is pleased to announce their 5th annual taiko fellowship, an opportunity to study taiko in Hawaii with world-renowned taiko artist Kenny Endo and the Kenny Endo Taiko Ensemble. The one-year fellowship includes a $250 scholarship, placement in the Kenny Endo Taiko Ensemble Trainee program, and possible part-time employment as an administrative and/or teaching staff member of Kenny Endo’s Taiko Center of the Pacific.

Fellowship recipients also have the opportunity to study traditional Japanese hogaku hayashi, matsuri bayashi, lion dance, and fue through private lessons with Kenny Endo and perform with the Kenny Endo Taiko Ensemble! Interested applicants must be between 18 and 30 years of age, have a minimum of 3 years of taiko experience or equivalent combination of experience in taiko and other performing arts, and be able to commit at least a year to study in Hawaii with 10-15 hours of practice, teaching, and administrative assistance a week.
