Memorial for Yuko
Written by David Leong
Thursday, 15 April 2010
ImageHello everyone,

We will be holding a memorial for Yuko on Saturday, May 8th from 2pm. Saya and I would like you to come.

Home of Truth
1300 Grand Street
Alameda, CA 94501-2505

We will be celebrating and remembering Yuko's life and strength. Yuko would have wanted us to dress in bright colors, as color had a special meaning and importance to her.  Please feel free to.

Instead of flowers, we would appreciate contributions to Saya's college fund. There will be a box for donations at the venue. You can also send a check. Please write "For Saya" in the note field and mail to:

David Leong
1624 136th ave
San Leandro, CA 94578

Afterward, join us for food, companionship, and more stories.  Please respond to let me know if you are coming.

Love, David and Saya

P.S. I discovered that Yuko was writing short notes to herself in the hospital. I was very moved by them, and would like to share several.

March 31:
Today I live to celebrate my life and existence.

April 3:
Today I live to appreciate all the love and support from my family and friends, doctors and nurses.

April 6:
Today I live to appreciate what I can. I can walk, do chores, do something that is helpful to others.

April 7:
Today I live appreciating friendship. Thank you for supporting me.

Rolling Thunder is Closing

I have very sad news on several fronts.

First, Yuko, my beloved wife passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2010. She had fought valiently against cancer for over a year, but contracted a secondary Leukemia. Without an immune system, she caught pneumonia and passed away with shocking speed. She went peacefully, surrounded by family and loved ones.

Second, without Yuko to back me up, I cannot imagine being able to carry on Rolling Thunder. As some of you may know, I am training to be a Marriage and Family Therapist. The internship process is very long and involved, and I do not have time to run Rolling Thunder by myself.

We plan to have a memorial in May. Further details will be posted.

If you wish to contact me, please use this form .

In great sorrow,
