Many people are attracted to taiko due to the incredible power of the drum's sound. However, it's important to remember that high sound volume can damage your hearing over time. Taiko have been measured at 110 decibels (about the same as a passing train) and the recommend "safe" time to be exposed to that level is only 15 minutes. Of course a typical taiko performance/practice will not sustain 110db for 15 minutes, but the sound exposure does accumulate and so does the potential for hearing loss. Rolling Thunder recommends that you wear earplugs when practicable, and EMT makes affordable, re-usable earplugs that reduces the volume without reducing the sound quality. In addition, there are many downloadable information sheets about hearing protection, the potential for hearing loss and sound levels at the E-A-R website . |

We're proud to announce that the Rolling Thunder online shopping cart is now up and running! In case you get a 4am urge for a fresh, new pair of bachi, you now can order online using our secure server.
We did have to wrestle with the shipping module a bit more than we expected, so if you have any problems with the shopping cart, please be sure to let us know right away. We'll work hard to get any problems straightened out right away!
As you can see, the shopping cart has only a handful of items right now, but we will be adding more on a regular basis. In the meantime, if you don't see what you want, just contact Yuko, and she will be happy to fill your order with her usual legendary customer service. |
