Fue
The flutes played in Japan are known by a variety of names: yokobue, shinobue, matsuribue, but the general term for them is simply fue (foo-eh). Fue have a tight, focussed sound, and range in sound from wonderfully melodic to piercing. They are a great addition to a taiko ensemble, as well as being a wonderful solo instrument.
