Wine Barrel taiko making has a long tradition in North America. As taiko started as an art form in the US, the first taiko groups could not afford to buy authentic Japanese taiko, and started making their own out of wine barrels. As time has gone on, several makers have taken the wine barrel taiko to amazing heights of quality while keeping the price affordable.
Rolling Thunder is proud to partner with Mr. Kato to offer his amazing wine barrel taiko. Mr. Kato has put in tremendous research into building his taiko drums, and the work has really paid off. Mr. Kato builds strongly re-inforced bodies, and stretches his heads to very high tensions, just like Japanese taiko, which leads to great sound, crisp playing, and long head life.
Mr. Kato warrantees his drum bodies against cracking (excluding intentional or accidental damage) for life.
