October 2, 3, 4, 2009Maikaze Daiko hosts the second annual Meigetsu (Harvest Moon) Taiko Festival on October 2, 3 & 4th at the Dance Mission Theater in San Francisco. Over 70 artists from the San Francisco Bay Area will perform both traditional and modern, cutting edge-taiko-based music and dance. Guest artists include: Maikaze Daiko, Taiko Ren, Maze Daiko, KIKU, GRRRL Brigade, IchM Daiko, Ensohza, Tatsumaki Taiko, Facing East Dance & Music , Emeryville Taiko, Wajima Kiriko Daiko, Yokayo Taiko, Philip Gelb (shakuhachi flute), Rachel Ebora (narimono percussion)and students of the Academy of Arts & Sciences High School’s World Music Program.
A “Family Matinee” has been added on Sunday at 3pm. The matinee which showcases both taiko students and professionals, offers reduced priced tickets with additional discounts for seniors, students, and children.
